My intention with these pieces is to explore our comfort level with the intimate details of our sexuality – who gets to come inside, who has control, and who has power. It embodies the struggle to understand our deepest internal lives – our sexual and psychological cores – that are oftentimes more accessible to others than they are to ourselves.

These pieces in the series are created using an Italian technique called “incalmo” whereby two separately blown pieces are joined together to form one whole piece. However, instead of connecting externally, these pieces join together creating an internal structure within a structure. The pieces sit unattached on a solid glass base and can be moved in many different positions to reveal new perspectives on this theme.
